Property rates increased up to 200% across 243 Bhopal locations under collector's guideline approved Monday. Locations affected include Arera Colony (E-1 to E-7), 10 Number Market, Arera Hills, Katara Hills, MP Nagar, Board Office, with steep increases in Kolar and Huzur tehsils. Of 243 locations, 161 are urban and 82 rural. About half-a-dozen locations saw 100-200% increases.

CREDAI state president Manoj Meek and Signature developer MD P Raju opposed the mid-financial-year hike, stating it will discourage investment, burden buyers, increase property tax, and cause losses rather than revenue gains. CREDAI noted higher stamp duty in the state makes such rate increases objectionable.
