Indore-Dahod new rail line project: track testing successfully conducted on 38.26-km section between Pithampur and Dhar. Engine trial using tower wagon covered distance in 54 minutes at maximum speed of 50 kmph. Electrification and signalling works progressing rapidly. Station construction underway at Pithampur, Sagour, Gunawad and Dhar, including station buildings, platforms, circulating areas and covered sheds. When completed, rail line will strengthen regional connectivity, boost industrial and economic activity, and improve transport facilities.

The Indore–Dahod new line project achieved a milestone with track testing on the Pithampur–Dhar section from March 23 to 26, 2026. Work from Indore to Tihi is complete; construction between Tihi and Dhar is proceeding. Tunnel construction remains pending in the Tihi–Pithampur section. A track tamping machine was transported by road and placed on the railway track to complete tamping and repair work between Pithampur and Dhar. A tower wagon was also transported by road and placed near Pithampur to test track stability and safety by operating it up to the prescribed speed limit. Chief Engineer (Construction) Dheeraj Kumar from Mumbai supervised the testing and conducted detailed inspection of the track from Pithampur to Dhar. This is the first instance of the track's capacity being tested by tower wagon operation on the Indore–Dahod new rail line. Parallel tunnel construction will continue at rapid pace. The railway administration is working towards early commencement of the line up to Dhar.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said people of Pithampur in Dhar district should approach court to present their side on Union Carbide waste disposal. Madhya Pradesh High Court granted six weeks to state government to act on waste disposal per safety guidelines. The HC also directed media not to give incorrect news on the waste disposal issue. Waste packed in 12 sealed containers was shifted January 2 from Union Carbide factory in Bhopal to disposal site at Pithampur in Dhar district, located 250 km away. The incineration is to be carried out by Ramky Enviro company. Protests occurred in Pithampur on January 3 after waste arrived; two men attempted self-immolation during protest. Protesters claim disposal would harm humans and environment. On December 3, 2024, HC asked government to remove and transport waste within four weeks and warned of contempt proceedings if directive was not acted upon. The December 2-3, 1984 methyl isocyanate gas leak from Union Carbide pesticide factory in Bhopal killed at least 5,479 persons and left thousands with serious injuries and health issues.
