The Maharashtra government has directed officials to expedite construction of a 100-bed sub-district hospital at Patan in Satara district to improve healthcare access in remote and hilly areas.

The project upgrades the existing 30-bed rural hospital into a full-fledged 100-bed sub-district hospital. Administrative approval: ₹27.18 crore; technical sanction: ₹23.42 crore.

Facilities to include: specialist outpatient departments, surgery, orthopaedics, gynaecology, paediatrics, ophthalmology, X-ray, sonography, operation theatre, labour room, casualty ward, antenatal and postnatal wards, medical and surgical wards, ICU, dialysis unit, and burns ward.

Project formally launched September 2023. Revised completion target: September 2027. RCC work for OPD building completed; approximately 10% of overall construction finished. Approximately ₹1.85 crore spent to date.

Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Prakash Abitkar directed acceleration of construction, adequate manpower availability, and prevention of healthcare service disruption. Satara Guardian Minister Shambhuraj Desai assured no shortage of funds or administrative support.

Once operational, the hospital is expected to reduce patient dependence on larger medical centres outside the region and serve thousands of residents across Patan taluka and neighbouring areas.
