Visakhapatnam Officials Explore Padmanabham Heritage Tourism Circuit

Visakhapatnam tourism officials are assessing a heritage circuit covering Padmanabham and Anandapuram, alongside proposals for night access and other tourism improvements.

District Tourism Council members, chaired by Collector M. N. Harendhira Prasad, asked officials to assess a heritage cluster covering Padmanabham and Anandapuram. Proposed attractions include Pandrangi village, birthplace of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju; the centuries-old Gudilova Sivalayam; the nearly 500-year-old Victory Pillar (Vijaya Stupam) at Potnuru, erected by Emperor Sri Krishnadevaraya; and Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple. The proposal has been shared with INTACH; after its feedback, it will go to higher authorities, District Tourism Officer Madhavi said.

Tourism representatives requested access to Beach Road attractions after midnight, citing police restrictions that require visitors to return to hotels before then. The meeting also discussed expanding beach water sports, resolving land issues affecting tourism projects and developing eco-friendly facilities at Thotlakonda and Bavikonda. The Visakha Utsav date is unconfirmed; holding it between Christmas and New Year is under consideration, with the annual event likely at month-end.
