Indore’s MR-11 Road Faces Delays From More Than 200 Structures
Amar Ujala · · Infrastructure
Indore Development Authority is building MR-11 in stages, while more than 200 structures obstruct completion of its planned 60-metre-wide route to AB Road.
Key facts
- Indore Development Authority is constructing MR-11, a 60-metre-wide road linking the bypass with AB Road and the New Lohamandi area. Work currently extends only from the bypass to the entrance of Dewas Naka Basti; completion to AB Road remains undecided. A link road connecting MR-11 to Niranjanpur is also being planned.
- The article describes the road as 3 km long and says more than ₹50 crore is being spent on 2 km. The bypass-to-settlement section is expected to be completed within a year.
- More than 200 structures, including large warehouses, obstruct the 800-metre stretch between Dewas Naka Basti and AB Road. The authority has asked the municipal corporation to remove them, but no removals have occurred.
- The road is expected to ease heavy-vehicle traffic on MR-10, where buses heading towards Delhi, Bhopal and Agra travel, and reduce traffic through residential areas along MR-10, Sukhlia village and Chandragupta Maurya statue junction. More than 40 colonies and rural areas connect to MR-11.
- The route was planned in the 1975 master plan. A proposal to fund it through the Simhastha allocation was made 10 years ago, but that funding was later assigned to MR-4. Local real-estate representatives say nearby townships have developed and urge completion to AB Road.
