Dissatisfaction with DDA Flats Leads to Protest in Mukherjee Nagar
Flat Owners Stage Protest Against DDA
Recently, several flat owners who had relocated to 'incomplete' DDA flats in Mukherjee Nagar staged a protest against the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). The flats, which were part of the 2010 housing scheme, remain unfinished. Owners have accused the DDA of disregarding their grievances.
Unanswered Pleas and Continued Neglect
These flat owners have been relentlessly appealing to the authorities with no satisfactory response. Despite repeated pleas, the DDA remained indifferent until the recent protest.
Allegations of Inaction and Poor Construction
The flat owners claim that the DDA officials have not taken any action to complete the flats. They also allege that the quality of construction is poor, and the area has become infested with mosquitoes. Moreover, high-power cables hang dangerously, posing a significant risk to residents.
Dire Living Conditions
Workers living in these flats are deprived of essential facilities and are forced to defecate in open spaces due to incomplete or insufficient amenities.
Financial Burdens
Many residents, burdened by both EMI payments and housing rent, chose to move into these unfinished flats to save costs. Despite paying the full amount to the authority, they have not been provided any safety measures, including safe elevators and fire safety clearance.
Residents' Grievances and Official Response
One allottee mentioned an incident where a resident was trapped in an elevator for nearly four hours. Senior officials arrived at the protest site and promised to address the issues promptly. The lack of completion certificates further exacerbates the residents' plight.
