UP-RERA Shifts to Virtual Hearings Amidst Rising COVID-19 Cases

Delhi/NCR:- In response to the escalating COVID-19 caseload nationwide, the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP-RERA) has taken the decision to suspend in-person appeal hearings, effective from May 1, 2021.

From Physical to Virtual: A Necessary Transition

Previously, the authority had planned to accommodate physical hearings for developers and buyers, contingent on strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols, in response to numerous requests by those concerned. However, considering the current circumstances, UP-RERA has transitioned to managing grievances virtually, using its extant e-court system. This shift aligns with directives from both the Indian national government and the Uttar Pradesh state government. The virtual hearing process will persist in its established format. The possibility of reinstating physical hearings will be evaluated later, taking into account any evolving pandemic conditions and mandates from state and central governing bodies.

Postponement of National Lok Adalat

Adding to the list of postponed events, the authority also recently deferred the National Lok Adalat, originally slated for April 10, 2021, in Lucknow and Greater Noida.
