NMC Launches Major Property Tax Amnesty Scheme for Defaulters

Major Relief for Property Tax Defaulters in Nashik

NMC Launches Major Property Tax Amnesty Scheme for Defaulters The Nashik Municipal Corporation has introduced a groundbreaking amnesty scheme starting September 1, 2025. This initiative targets property owners with unpaid tax dues, offering them relief on accumulated penalties.

Outstanding Dues Reach Record High

Nashik is now grappling with Rs 784 crore in unpaid property taxes. Nearly half of this amount, Rs 327 crore, comes from penalties that have piled up over the years. The civic body usually charges a 2% monthly penalty on overdue payments, creating a heavy burden for defaulters.

Attractive Penalty Waivers Available

The scheme provides significant benefits:

  • 95% penalty waiver for settlements between September 1-October 31, 2025
  • 85% penalty waiver for November 2025 payments
  • Full clearance of the principal tax amount required

Kumbh Mela Funding Drive

This amnesty scheme serves a strategic purpose. The NMC needs funds for its 20% contribution to the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027. The corporation has already submitted a Rs 15,000 crore plan to the state government for approval.

Early Payment Incentives Continue

Apart from the amnesty scheme, NMC continues its regular incentive program. Property owners making full annual payments in April get 8% rebates. Payments in May and June earn 5% and 3% discounts respectively. Online payments fetch an additional 1% discount.

Act Fast for Maximum Savings

Property owners must pay their dues, or the authority should take quick action regarding the outstanding payments. The scheme ends October 31, 2025, making immediate action crucial for maximum penalty relief.
