HC Order To DLF

In a significant ruling, the Madras High Court has placed a stay on the construction activities of a shopping mall project initiated by DLF in Chennai. Furthermore, the court has ordered the leading real estate developer to remove all temporary structures that were set up at the site. This directive came from the First Bench, which includes Chief Justice A K Ganguly and Justice F M Ibrahim Kallifulah, on the date of July 11. The decision followed a petition submitted by industrialist Rajiv Ray, who sought judicial intervention to prevent DLF from continuing with the mall's construction at Ethiraj Salai in Chennai. The petitioner expressed concerns regarding the potential adverse effects on local residents, who are already grappling with numerous issues stemming from obstructions in the vicinity. The court's ruling, therefore, underlines the importance of balancing real estate developments with the amenities and rights of existing communities.
