The Gurgaon administration has mandated the installation of CCTV cameras in residential societies throughout the district, marking a significant step toward enhanced security.
District Commissioner Shekhar Vidyarthi issued the comprehensive order, which extends to pubs and bars within the city limits. This directive stipulates that CCTV cameras must be strategically positioned at both entry and exit points of these establishments. Moreover, the order mandates a minimum storage period of 30 days for the recorded footage.
The decision follows a series of unlawful incidents that occurred in the recent past. The order takes immediate effect, and violators will face punitive measures.
Resident Associations' Response
While some high-end societies have already implemented CCTV surveillance, a significant number of housing societies currently lack such systems. Residents have largely welcomed the order. Resident associations have expressed readiness to install CCTV cameras within their premises, with the expectation that this will substantially bolster security in these high-end societies.

City law enforcement has voiced concerns regarding the absence of CCTV cameras in various residential areas. They believe that this new order will significantly aid the police in investigating cases of theft and burglary within the area. In response, many societies are contemplating expanding their surveillance systems beyond entry and exit gates to encompass other common areas, further enhancing overall safety.
