Rakindo to set up $1.5 billion integrated township at Coimbatore.

Real estate developer Rakindo Developers has announced an ambitious plan to construct a $1.5 billion (Rs 6,000 crore) integrated township in Coimbatore. The project is expected to be ready for launch by the last quarter of 2023. Mr. Prasad Koneru, Managing Director of Rakindo Developers, articulated that their flagship project in this vibrant texcity will be spread over a sprawling 1,000 acres, with an 18-hole golf course serving as its centerpiece.

This self-sustaining township is designed to encompass lavish golf course villas, all set against the backdrop of scenic mountains and lush greenery. Mr. Koneru emphasized, "We are a master developer, who believe in the concept of optimum utilization of land rather than looking at per square feet utilization.” Furthermore, he mentioned that the township will operate independently from the existing infrastructure, incorporating a comprehensive facility management system.

Regarding pricing, Mr. Koneru indicated that while golf-facing villas will have a premium price tag, a range of high-end to medium-range apartments will also be available. Scheduled for launch in the third quarter of this year, the project will be built around the innovative theme of a ‘walk to work culture’, which is consistently emphasized across all Rakindo properties.

In addition to residential areas, the township will feature an IT SEZ, a specialty hospital, schools, a star hotel, a clubhouse, a wellness centre, along with retail and commercial developments. Mr. Koneru clarified that the focus is not on attracting investors but on catering to customers who aspire to enjoy a true township lifestyle, stating, “Ultimately, we do not want to create a ghost town as our objective is to creatively service people.”
