Boney Kapoor’s consortium outbids Akshay Kumar to build a 230-acre film city in Noida with a cinema museum and university

After months of delays, a consortium led by filmmaker Boney Kapoor has secured the bid to build the 230-acre Noida Film City.

Consortium Wins Bid for Noida Film City

A consortium led by film producer Boney Kapoor has successfully outbid others, including those led by actor Akshay Kumar and producer Bhushan Kumar, to develop Noida Film City. Situated along the Yamuna Expressway, the project spans 230 acres and will include a film university, a cinema museum, and a helipad, among other amenities. The site is a mere 6 kilometers from the upcoming Noida International Airport.

Final Four Bidders

The greenfield project was initially presented to Uttar Pradesh government officials in June. The final four bidders were:

  • Super Cassettes Industries Private Limited (T-Series)
  • Supersonic Technobuild Private Limited (Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, Akshay Kumar’s Cape of Good Films LLP, and others)
  • Bayview Projects LLP (backed by Boney Kapoor, real estate company Bhutani Group, and Noida Cyber Park)
  • 4 Lions Films Private Limited (backed by filmmaker KC Bokadia and others)

The project is being developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. Bayview Projects LLP, with the highest revenue share offered to the state government, became the chosen developer. The bid for the project was reissued for the third time in June, following two previous unsuccessful attempts.

Project Timeline

Bayview Projects LLP is set to sign a concession agreement with the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority in June to acquire the land. Construction is expected to commence within six months of the agreement.
