Twenty-three New SEZs Cleared

New Delhi: The Center has approved the establishment of twenty-three new special economic zones (SEZs), including seventeen projects for the development of information technology and IT-enabled services (ITeS) zones. Additionally, in-principle approval has been granted to six proposals.

The Board of Approval of the Special Economic Zones, chaired by Union Commerce Secretary G. K. Pillai, reviewed a total of thirty-four SEZ proposals. This includes three proposals aimed at converting in-principle approvals into formal approvals.

Among the approved projects, four IT and ITeS Special Economic Zones are slated to be set up in Kerala by the Kerala State Information Technology Infrastructure Ltd. In Andhra Pradesh, two IT, ITeS, and electronic hardware SEZs, spearheaded by Godrej Real Estate Private Ltd. and S2tech.com Private Ltd., have also received approval.
