Rajasthan High Court New Building Jodhpur

On July 22, 2022, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot approved a Rs. 14.37 crore proposal for constructing a new Bar Council of Rajasthan building on the premises of the Rajasthan High Court.

Journey of the Rajasthan High Court

The journey began on December 7, 2019, when President Ram Nath Kovind dedicated the most modern and beautiful Rajasthan High Court building in the country. Situated on the Jaipur National Highway, the new High Court building is not only artistic but also unique and well-equipped. Covering an area of 22.61 bighas, it boasts 22 courtrooms, including the Chief Justice’s courtroom, equipped with a digital software-based display board showing complete details of pending cases. The main roof of the High Court stands 35 meters (120 feet) above the ground, with a diameter of 118 feet.

Highlights of the New Bar Council Building (Jodhpur)

  • The new Bar Council building will include an auditorium with a capacity of 500, an electric room, a staff room, and other facilities on the ground floor.
  • The first and second floors will house the Chairman of the Council’s room, the Vice Chairman’s Hall, the Meeting Hall, the Library, the Driver’s Dormitory, the Multipurpose Hall, and the Office.
  • Rajasthan State Road Development and Construction Corporation (RSRDC) will construct the structure.
  • Notably, the Chief Minister announced a financial provision of Rs 8.53 crore in the budget for the fiscal year 2022-23 for this purpose.

Special Provisions for Female Employees

Special consideration has been given to female employees. The most notable feature of the structure is the presence of a separate children’s zone. Female employees or lawyers who bring their young children to work can utilize this arrangement, with a nanny present at all times to supervise the children. Children’s toys will also be available.

One-of-a-kind Library

The library in the new building is particularly interesting. It employs a novel method of condensed book placement. Such an immense and modern library has never existed in Jodhpur. Moreover, the walls of the court complex have been decorated in Marwar style, showcasing the cultural tradition and artistic surroundings of Marwar. Fountains and visual lighting have also been installed in the outdoor garden. The meeting hall and visitor seating areas have couches, making the structure seem larger than India’s Parliament based on its model.

14 Elevators with Cutting-Edge Technology

Constructed from the famous Jodhpur sandstone (Chittar Stone), this building features cutting-edge technology and furnishings. It has 14 lifts and 1659 pillars. The Rajasthan High Court campus is equipped with an air conditioning system and Wi-Fi. CCTV cameras have been installed throughout the building. Arrangements for communication between judges and lawyers include a microphone system. There is also a fully equipped conference room with modern technology.

Amenities

This structure is Asia’s only designated modern and grand court building. It will not only establish an identity for its judicial work but also serve as a tourist attraction due to its grandeur.
