LDA Completes Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel EWS Apartments on Reclaimed Dalibagh Land
Lucknow's skyline is welcoming new affordable homes. The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has just completed three residential towers known as the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel EWS Apartments in Dalibagh. This prime area sits on 2,314 sqm of land that was reclaimed from illegal possession, previously linked to the mafia figure Mukhtar Ansari. Now, it is home to low-income families.
Project Details and Transformation
Construction has finished on 72 EWS units, with each unit measuring 36.65 sqm. Priced at ₹10.70 lakh, these one-room flats are intended for the Economically Weaker Sections. The units are arranged in three four-storey blocks, transforming a place once shadowed by crime into a beacon of hope for the poor. The LDA prioritised the public good over private profit.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath distributed allotment letters on November 5, 2025. Winners were selected through a transparent lottery, broadcast live on YouTube. The categories included SC/ST, OBC, and general applicants.
Key Features and Amenities
Residents enjoy essential services. Here’s what makes these apartments appealing:
- 24-hour water and sanitation services
- Reliable power supply and backup
- Efficient sewer and drainage systems
- Paved internal roads
- Parks for children and senior citizens
- Parking spaces and lounge areas
- Clubhouses and community centres
These features ensure that the units provide much more than just shelter. Families can find a genuine community vibe close to Hazratganj's energy.
Bigger Picture: LDA's Housing Drive
This initiative aligns with the LDA's broader strategy. The scheme attracted over 5,000 applicants quickly. Nearby Atal Nagar offers 2,496 flats starting at ₹9.82 lakh. The demand for affordable homes in central locations is rising, especially with costs increasing elsewhere.
Reclaiming this land serves dual purposes: it dismantles the mafia's grip and provides housing for the needy. LDA Vice Chairman Prathamesh Kumar refers to it as smart urban planning. Over 8,500 applicants purchased brochures, and registrations soared.
Why It Matters for Buyers
The prices are lower than market rates. A 36.65 sqm flat in Dalibagh? This was unheard of until now. EWS families can realise their dreams without stretching their budgets too thin. Government initiatives like this reduce waiting lists and enhance trust.
Lucknow continues to evolve. Such projects blend justice with growth. Keep an eye out for more lotteries in the near future.
