GMADA Introduces Land Pooling Scheme for Key Infrastructure Projects
The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) is implementing a land pooling scheme for three significant infrastructure projects in the region. This initiative aims to benefit farmers whose land is being acquired by giving them ownership of developed plots.
Projects Covered Under the Scheme:
- A road connecting the S.A.S. Nagar international airport with Zirakpur and Patiala.
- The Kharar-Desumajra airport road stretch.
- Mullanpur Urban Estate.
Benefits for Farmers:
Under this scheme, farmers will receive 50% of their acquired land after GMADA develops it into residential, commercial, or institutional plots. For every acre of land contributed, a farmer will get a 980 square yard residential plot and a 121 square yard commercial plot in the developed area. Furthermore, GMADA will provide rent to farmers at a rate determined by the collector until the plots are allocated.
Awareness and Alternatives:
GMADA is actively promoting the land pooling scheme through an awareness program. However, participation in the scheme is not mandatory for farmers. Those who choose not to participate will receive a cash payment determined by the Land Price Fixation Committee.
Project Details:
- Airport Road: GMADA plans to acquire 771 acres of land for a 200-meter-wide road from the international airport to Chhat village on National Highway 64. This road will include areas designated for mixed land use, allowing for commercial activities.
- Kharar-Desumajra-Airport Road: GMADA intends to acquire 260 acres for this stretch.
- Mullanpur Urban Estate: This project requires 444 acres of land. Notifications for the airport road and Kharar-Desumajra-airport road projects have been issued, while the notification for Mullanpur Urban Estate is expected soon.
"In case any farmer does not want to opt for the scheme, GMADA will pay him cash fixed by the Land Price Fixation Committee."
