Approximately fifteen leading infrastructure and real estate companies have expressed their interest in participating in the construction of the Multimodal Transport Hub proposed by the Delhi government at ISBT, Dwarka. Among the notable names are the BLS-ILFS consortium, Unity Infraprojects, Lanco Infratech, Nagarjuna Constructions, CMC Constructions, Parasvnath Developers, Zoom Developers, Sun City Projects, Somdutt Builders, Pawha Infrastructure, and SMS Infrastructures, among others.
This ambitious project will be developed through a public-private partnership at an estimated investment of four hundred crore rupees. It will be executed under a BOMM model—build-operate-maintain-manage—for a duration of forty years.
Strategically situated on eleven hectares adjacent to the world-class convention center established by DLF and the IGI International Airport, the proposed transit hub aims for operational completion ahead of the upcoming Commonwealth Games.
Significantly, this hub will be the first of its kind in India, fostering inter-connectivity among various modes of public transport, including inter-state buses, the Delhi Metro, and the planned light rail transport system that the Delhi government is set to introduce.
The design of the ISBT is tailored to accommodate up to five thousand buses daily, featuring around 175 bays allocated for inter-state buses and approximately one hundred dedicated to local buses. Additional facilities will include a single-storey underground parking area for buses and cars. Furthermore, the project envisions developing a three-star hotel comprising three hundred rooms, as well as essential passenger amenities such as food stalls, a dormitory, drinking water sources, air-conditioned waiting lounges, ATMs, bank counters, department stores, and phone booths.
