Financial Aid Disbursed to Construction Workers
On February 18, the Delhi government provided Rs 3.17 crore to 487 construction workers under several welfare schemes. Manish Sisodia, the Deputy Chief Minister and Labour Minister, personally handed over the cheques at an event held at the Delhi Secretariat.
Breakdown of Beneficiaries
- Maternity Scheme: 181 workers
- Education Scheme: 131 workers
- Pension Scheme: 51 workers
- Funeral and Death Scheme: Approximately 52 workers
Eased Grant-Giving Process
Manish Sisodia simplified the process for granting assistance to construction workers registered under the Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. He emphasized the government's responsibility to provide assistance and expressed support for workers in difficult times.
Sisodia's Statement
The Deputy Chief Minister stated: "It is the government’s duty to provide assistance to those in need. Delhi government is always available to the needy people. Every construction worker in Delhi, whether a contractor or a laborer, should have faith that my government always stands with them in difficult times. The people of Delhi should have such level of confidence in the government."
Various Schemes and Benefits
- Marriage Grants: Rs 34,000 to Rs 50,000
- Death Benefits: Rs 2,00,000 for accidental death, Rs 1,00,000 for natural death
- Disability Benefits: Rs 1,00,000
- Education Benefits: Rs 500 to Rs 11,000
- Healthcare Benefits: Rs 2,000 to Rs 10,000
- Maternity Benefits: Rs 30,000
- Funeral Rites: Rs 10,000
Verification Process
Workers who are eligible but haven’t received their claims should contact 1076. A government official will visit their home to verify documents and complete the registration process.
