Extension of Construction Ban in Noida and Ghaziabad

The local authority of the National Capital Region (NCR) has further extended the restriction on construction activities in Noida and Ghaziabad until May 3, 2020. This move is part of the region's efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Green Light for Gurgaon and Faridabad with Approvals

Meanwhile, builders in Gurgaon and Faridabad have been permitted to continue their construction activities, provided they obtain the necessary approvals. This concession is applicable only if the project is located outside the regulatory zone.

Delhi to Review Situation Post April 27, 2020

The Delhi administration will assess the situation and make a decision regarding construction activities after April 27, 2020.

Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Guidelines

Despite the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) allowing certain sectors, including real estate, to operate from April 20 onwards, most states have opted to exercise caution until May 3, 2020.

NAREDCO's Stance on the Situation

RK Arora, President, National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO), Uttar Pradesh Chapter, emphasized that land ventures require an upgrade from both the Centre and the respective State government to progress. In the absence of construction resources, projects are likely to face delays.

NAREDCO's Requests to the Uttar Pradesh Government

To alleviate the situation, NAREDCO has petitioned the Uttar Pradesh government for:

  • Waiver of Stamp Duty
  • Suspension of Land Dues Instalments
  • Delay of EMI Payments
