Chief Minister's Directive to HMDA
The Chief Minister N Kiran Reddy has urged the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to accelerate ongoing projects, including circular roads, habitat centers, science city, educational institutions, and other critical initiatives, with specific timelines.
Secundrabad Cantonment Master Plan
The Chief Minister, who also serves as the chairperson of the HMDA board, has approved preparations for the master plan for the Secundrabad Cantonment area. The civic body covers 7,257 square kilometers, spread over 42 square kilometers. The cantonment area, previously regulated by the board, requested the state government to develop a master plan for the area.
Land Pooling Scheme and Project Approvals
Of the total HMDA area, covering 7,257 square kilometers, the proposal encompasses 5,985 square kilometers across 35 mandals in four districts. The HMDA board also approved the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) initiated by the authority. The LPS is being implemented at two locations: Edulanagulapally-Kollur and Pratapsingaram-Gowrelli in the state.
Major Projects and Green Signals
The Chief Minister gave the green light for the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and Habitat Center, which will occupy over 11 acres of land at Khanamet. Other significant projects, such as the Science City project, costing Rs 160 crore, educational institutions, and the new Eco Park, have also received approval from the board. A detailed report has been prepared by the state government for the Centre.
Re-introduction of Green Channel Concept
HMDA officials announced that the authority will reintroduce the green channel concept, enabling owners and developers to secure approvals within seven working days. This new approach will be implemented in phases across different parts of the state. Additionally, the body has agreed to restore clock towers and historic monuments in the city.
