Punjab Government Champions NRI Rights and Investment Opportunities
Advocate General of Punjab, Hardev Singh Mattewal, affirmed the Punjab Government's unwavering commitment to safeguarding the rights of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) during a private visit to London.
In discussions with media personnel, Mattewal articulated the government's dedicated efforts to resolve NRI-related issues and encouraged substantial NRI investments in Punjab's developmental initiatives. He conveyed a direct appeal to the NRI community in London, urging significant contributions to the state's progress. Mattewal engaged with various NRI delegations, assuring them of the state government's comprehensive support and collaborative spirit.
Positive Steps Towards NRI Confidence
Highlighting the impactful decisions made by the Badal Government during the NRI Sammelan held in Punjab to promote NRI welfare, the Advocate General characterized the actions as "a step in the right direction to win over the confidence of NRIs." Mattewal emphasized the establishment of a high-level committee arising from the Sammelan, which is actively addressing a multitude of complex concerns related to the problems encountered by NRIs.
Punjab's Growth Trajectory
Mattewal underscored Punjab's accelerated progress under Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal's guidance. He expressed optimism about Punjab's prospects of becoming a sought-after investment hub and a thriving commercial epicenter. He cited considerable recent growth seen across various sectors, including industry, real estate, education, and health services, as key drivers of this anticipated transformation.
Advocate General's London Visit
Clarifying the nature of his presence in London, Mattewal confirmed it as a personal visit rather than an official capacity. He had journeyed to London to participate in a religious event at a local Gurdwara, where he received recognition from the Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee.
Addressing NRI Grievances
Responding to media inquiries, Mattewal outlined the implementation of specialized NRI Police Stations in Punjab, established under the direction of Mr. Badal, dedicated to promptly resolving the issues and complaints of NRIs. He shared his experience of a warm welcome by the London-based NRI community. He said he would treasure these positive memories. "I have personally realized the hardships being faced by the NRIs here and would soon take up this matter with the Punjab Government for their immediate and solution on the top priority," Mattewal stated.
