L&T Construction bags Rs 1,485-crore orders

Larsen and Toubro (L&T), a major player in the Indian industry and a $15-billion conglomerate involved in technology, engineering, construction, manufacturing, and financial services, has announced that its construction division secured new orders worth Rs 1,485 crore across various business segments in December 2013.

Power Transmission and Distribution

In the power transmission and distribution sector, orders valued at Rs 670 crore have been awarded in both domestic and international markets. Key projects include:

  • An order received by L&T Saudi Arabia LLC, a fully-owned subsidiary, for constructing a 132-kV transmission line and connecting the Al-Dawadmi sub-station to the 132-kV Riyadh network.

  • A turnkey order from the Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited to establish a 450 kV double-circuit transmission line from Veltoor to Yemmiganoor.

  • An order from the Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Limited to set up a 230/110/33kV GIS sub-station in Chennai on a turnkey basis, intended for transmitting power to the notable Chennai Metro Rail Project.

Cement Plant Construction

Additionally, an order was received for the construction of a cement plant in Chittapur, Karnataka. The scope of work includes the plant’s structural fabrication and erection, alongside its associated activities.
