Leading Real Estate Company Line Up For Affordable Housing In Punjab

Prominent real estate companies such as DLF, Parsvnath, Omaxe, TDI, Ansals, and Unitech have expressed their intent to team up with the Punjab government in an effort to deliver ‘reasonable houses priced no more than One lakh rupees each’ within the state. During a conference held on June 12th with Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, industry leaders and infrastructure developers convened to devise tangible plans for the 'Housing for All' initiative. This significant meeting saw the attendance of senior executives from notable firms, including Ambuja Cement, Ansal API, DLF, and others. Chief Minister Badal remarked that the state government is committed to offering necessary support to the business sector for a collaborative scheme aimed at securing housing for every poor and needy individual in Punjab. The gathering, organized by the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO), was geared towards fostering dialogue among key stakeholders. In his address, Badal announced the establishment of a dedicated 'state shelter fund' specifically for the construction of economically weaker section (EWS) housing, to be managed by the Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority (PUDA). Additionally, all urban development authorities are to contribute fifty percent of their license fee collections to this fund. Highlighting the importance of stakeholder consultations in collaboration with NAREDCO before finalizing policies on affordable housing, Badal outlined several groundbreaking measures already implemented in the realm of housing and urban development.
