Green buildings in demand

The Rise of Green Buildings in India's Real Estate Industry

A notable trend is emerging in the Indian real estate sector: the increasing adoption of green building concepts. These eco-friendly structures are designed to be energy efficient, utilizing fewer natural resources, generating less waste, and providing a healthier environment for occupants compared to conventional buildings.

The Growth of Green Buildings in India

According to Mr. Ajay Mathur, Director General for Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Ministry of Power, India has witnessed a significant surge in the development of green buildings. As of the latest reports, the country boasts approximately 30 million square feet of green building space. This achievement is particularly remarkable given that the movement had a humble beginning with only about 20,000 square feet in 2003.

Increasing Demand and Government Support

Since their introduction in 2007, green buildings have been gaining traction among buyers, attracted by their energy-efficient features. Various Government organizations have been at the forefront of spreading awareness and promoting the benefits of green buildings, further fueling their popularity in the Indian real estate market.

Key Benefits of Green Buildings
