Delhi Developer Arrested for Cheating Investors
On Tuesday, the police reported the arrest of a developer in Delhi, accused of defrauding 455 investors across the Capital and other locations.
Nupur Prasad, Deputy Commissioner of South Delhi, informed Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) that Manoj Bhardwaj, director of Arun Dev Builders, is implicated in nine separate cases.
Details of the Arrest
The police officer stated that Bhardwaj, in his 50s, was arrested from his residence in the Raju Park area of South Delhi. Bhardwaj has been in the real estate business for 22 years and has allegedly duped numerous people during this time.
Modus Operandi
The officer revealed that Bhardwaj would display his company’s boards in various cities where he lured his potential victims. He has deceived customers by showing them supposed projects in Gurgaon, Faridabad, and Rewari in Haryana; Kotputali and Shahpura in Rajasthan; Pul Pehlad Pur, Ali Gaon, and Chhatarpur in Delhi; and Haridwar in Uttarakhand.
Extent of Fraud
Multiple cases have been registered against Bhardwaj in police stations across Gurgaon, Dharuhera, Faridabad, and other locations in Northern India.
Additional Activities
Bhardwaj is also reported to have constructed 35 temples in various locations to earn money from devotees' offerings and donations.
