GMADA Completes Plan for Pure Commercial Development in Sector 87
The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has made a key decision that will change Mohali's commercial scene. After thinking about mixed land use development, the authority has now decided to turn Sector 87 into a fully commercial area, like the famous Sector 17 in Chandigarh.
Change from Mixed-Use Planning
The decision happened because the Punjab department of housing and urban development said no to GMADA's mixed land use (MLU) plan. Even though many people wanted mixed development, the state government stayed firm on making a business-focused zone.
This shift offers a big chance for investors and companies wanting to set up in Mohali's new commercial area.
Land Acquisition Moving Forward
GMADA is now taking over 236 acres of land from three villages:
- Sohana
- Manakpur
- Nanu Majra
The land acquisition, done under the land pooling policy, has already received approval from around 50 landowners. This shows strong local support for the commercial project.
Schedule and Market Effects
The upcoming commercial project is nearing completion, making Sector 87 the premier commercial location in Mohali. It fills a big need in Mohali's infrastructure by giving a special commercial area that matches Chandigarh's well-known business district.
This project will greatly raise property values nearby and bring in big stores, office buildings, and service companies to start working in Mohali's new commercial center.
