DLF, India’s largest real estate developer, has decided to develop the Infopark project worth Rs 1000-crore, to be spread over 54 acres in multiple phases. Initially, the company plans to develop one-tenth of the plot (5.4 acres) in the first phase, for which they have submitted a building plan awaiting approval from the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA). A spokesperson mentioned, "DLF has submitted a revised building plan for the Infopark project which is under scrutiny of BDA."
Following the de-notification of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ), DLF intends to develop the Infopark project under the STPI (Software Technology Parks of India) scheme.
DLF has made certain modifications to its Infopark project, which is to be built over 54 acres in the Infocity region of Bhubaneswar. The developers are interested in allocating a larger area for non-processing facilities such as shopping malls and multiplexes. The project, planned in three phases, will include an IT area, a luxury hotel, a chain of retail outlets, service apartments, and recreational facilities, totaling about 5.5 million sq ft. For the luxury hotel component, DLF has partnered with Hilton, a renowned international hotel chain.
For the first phase, DLF has committed to investing Rs 300 crores to develop an IT workspace of international standards, with a built-up area of 5.7 lakh sq ft. This phase is slated to become operational within 18 months to 2 years after the commencement of construction.
The Infopark project is expected to create direct and indirect job opportunities for over 40,000 people in various sectors such as IT, ITes (IT enabled services), retail, and hospitality.
