An illegally dug borewell on a public road near Divyanjali School in Central Excise Colony, New Nallakunta, damaged a main water pipeline on Monday. Thousands of gallons of water gushed out, flooding nearby homes and leaving the colony without drinking water.
A team including the mandal revenue officer inspected the site and drilling rigs but allowed the vehicles to leave without seizing them. Residents approached Amberpet police station, but officers reportedly declined to accept a complaint, saying the matter was outside their jurisdiction. Residents said authorities had not sealed or closed the borewell. Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board teams said pipeline repairs were underway and expected to be completed by the end of the day.
