Bhilai Municipal Corporation’s Mayor-in-Council rejected the commissioner’s proposed revision to taxable values of buildings and land, ruling out any property tax increase for 2026-27.

It approved a ₹2.54 crore road parallel to the railway line, from the railway station to the Nehru Nagar underbridge, including drains, cross-drain culverts, a retaining wall and street lighting. Pole relocation was sanctioned for ₹4.15 lakh, with additional works worth more than ₹63 lakh.

A proposal to purchase 15 mini-tippers at ₹7.43 lakh each (₹1.11 crore total) was sent back for review. The council approved handing Santoshipara’s Dr B R Ambedkar Sarv Samaj Mangal Bhavan to a private operator for 10 months.

Public-place pandals up to 5,000 sq ft are exempt from permission fees unless used commercially. Larger pandals will pay ₹3.50 per sq ft plus a ₹2,000 cleaning charge; the security deposit is refundable, and organisers must prevent traffic obstruction.
