₹25.57 Crore Sanctioned to Acquire Land for Mundur-Puttekkara Road Widening

Kerala sanctioned ₹25.57 crore to acquire land for widening a 1.8-km Mundur-Puttekkara stretch of the Thrissur-Kuttippuram State Highway into four lanes.

Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal sanctioned ₹25.57 crore for land acquisition to widen the 1.8-km Mundur-Puttekkara stretch of the Thrissur-Kuttippuram State Highway into four lanes. Xavier Chittilappilly, MLA, said the stretch is a traffic bottleneck and accident-prone.
About 177 cents will be acquired. Land is valued at approximately ₹5.5 lakh per cent; with 100% solatium, compensation will be about ₹11 lakh per cent, plus 12% interest from April 2024, when the 4(2) notification was issued, until payment. The sanction includes ₹3.4 crore for affected buildings, ₹20 lakh for trees and ₹23 lakh for rehabilitation and resettlement.
After the Public Works department transfers the funds to the Revenue department, the 19(1) notification can be issued, enabling the final phase of land acquisition.
