MIDC Plans Additional Land Acquisition for Nagpur Industrial Projects
Indiatimes · · Industry
MIDC plans to acquire 5,500 acres in Nagpur district for projects with signed MoUs, as existing industrial areas near capacity prompt expansion elsewhere.
Key facts
Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) will acquire an additional 5,500 acres in Nagpur district for industrial projects with signed MoUs, CEO Dipendra Singh Kushwah said during a visit to Vidarbha. The headline gives the proposed acquisition as 5,550 acres.
With Hingna and Butibori industrial areas nearly fully occupied, MIDC is focusing on industrial zones at Narkhed, Katol, Saoner and Kuhi. It is also accelerating industrial development in Nagpur, Gadchiroli and Chandrapur.
Confederation of Small Industries Association president Julfesh Shah said the acquisition would be a priority. Additional Butibori is sold out, and JSW and Mahindra & Mahindra are among large companies awaiting land. The Chief Minister’s Office has instructed MIDC to complete the process in six to eight months.
MIDC Identifies 9,100 Acres in Gadchiroli for JSW Steel Plant
Indiatimes · · Industry
MIDC has proposed acquiring 9,100 acres in Chamorshi tehsil, Gadchiroli, for JSW Group’s planned integrated steel plant, subject to company approval.
Key facts
Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has identified an alternative site in Chamorshi tehsil, Gadchiroli district, for a proposed 9,100-acre acquisition to establish JSW Group’s planned integrated steel plant, described as the world’s largest. The parcel could be nearly three times the size of Mihan-SEZ in Nagpur. A site near Wadsa tehsil had been selected earlier, but the Chamorshi parcel—a mix of private, forest and government land—was considered more suitable. MIDC expects private land acquisition to proceed smoothly, with locals willing to accept government-offered rates. The corporation has not disclosed the exact location while formalities continue. The company must agree to the proposed site; if approved, MIDC will acquire the land on JSW Group’s behalf. JSW chairman Sajjan Jindal announced the Gadchiroli plant in February 2025.
