Heavy Vehicles Restricted on Mandwa Jetty–Alibag Road During Peak Hours

Raigad district has banned heavy vehicles on the Mandwa Jetty–Alibag road from 8 am to noon and 4 pm to 8 pm daily.

Raigad District Collector Kishan Jawale ordered a permanent, time-bound ban on heavy vehicles on the Mandwa Jetty–Alibag road, effective immediately until further orders. Restrictions apply daily from 8 am to 12 pm and 4 pm to 8 pm. Carriers transporting milk, fuel, cooking gas, medicines, oxygen, vegetables and water are exempt, as are police, fire brigade and ambulance services.
The narrow route faces congestion from tourists heading to Alibag, Mandwa, Kihim, Aksi and Nagaon; dumpers, trucks carrying soil and gravel, cement mixers serving construction works; and private vehicles arriving on Mumbai Ro-Ro and passenger ferries. The district administration cited rising minor and major accidents, some fatal, and severe weekend queues that delay students, tourists and ambulances. The restrictions aim to improve traffic flow and road safety.
