The J&K Administration issued eviction notices to occupants of Nazool land (government property allotted on lease) in Srinagar, including the Mohi-ud-Din Trust in the Polo View commercial centre. The Tehsildar ordered eviction by September 21, 2026, stating occupants could not establish subsisting leases. Prior notice was issued August 8, 2026 requesting documentary evidence of authorization; replies submitted with original leases and renewal requests were deemed insufficient. Eviction notices also issued in Kara Nagar and Raj Bagh against defaulters on rent and lease terms violators. One leaseholder from Raj Bagh stated their family held the property since 1930s with regular lease extensions, finding the notices surprising and warning hundreds of families could become homeless. J&K has 58,034 kanals of Nazool land total: 50,343 kanals in Jammu division, 7,690 in Kashmir division. About 5,618 kanals leased for commercial activities in high-end markets in Jammu and Srinagar.
