The New Indian Express · · Infrastructure
Four 1 MW solar plants on government land in Khammam and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts will be managed by women’s self-help groups.
Key facts
Under the state Cabinet-approved pilot of the Indira Mahila Shakti scheme, four 1 MW solar plants are planned in Errupalem and Kalluru mandals of Khammam district, and Manuguru and Sujathanagar mandals of Bhadradri Kothagudem district. Four acres of government land have been allocated for each plant. Each is expected to generate about 4,500 units daily; at ₹3.13 per unit, estimated revenue is ₹14,095 per day and about ₹1,00,020 per month. Under the financial model, bank loans cover 20% of project costs; after repayments, SHGs are expected to earn about ₹47,020 net monthly. Loans are projected to be cleared within 12 years of the 25-year agreement, leaving 13 years of full profits.
A plant in Rajupalem village, Errupalem mandal, is nearing completion. Built across four acres at a cost of ₹2.9 crore, it is funded through 90% bank loans and 10% SHG contributions; generation is expected to start soon. Work is underway in Chinnakorukondi village, Kalluru mandal. Construction in Manuguru and Sujathanagar is expected to begin shortly, TGREDCO Manager Ajay Kumar said.
