Service roads: 5 metres wide on each side. Daily vehicles stuck before: up to 42,000. Beneficiary areas: Korukkupet, Kodungaiyur, Tondiarpet, Ezhil Nagar, Kannadasan Nagar, Nehru Nagar. Estimated benefit: 1 lakh people. Foundation stone laid for second overbridge at 2A railway crossing on Ennore High Road: Rs 75 crore, 448 metres long, 11 metres wide, with service roads and footpaths. Public park planned near Manali Road bridge: 19,128 sqft, Rs 1.1 crore outlay, to include walking paths, seating and lighting.

RoB 2B (Manali Road):

• Cost: Rs 96 crore
• Length: 840m total, 72m railway span
• Width: 8.4m, service roads 5m on each side
• Construction began 2023
• Implementation: 50:50 work-sharing between Southern Railway and Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC)
• Benefits: Eases traffic disruptions lasting up to 30 minutes; benefits approximately one lakh people from Korukkupet, Tondiarpet, Ezhil Nagar

RoB 2A (Ennore Highway) - proposed:

• Estimated cost: Rs 75 crore
• Length: 448m total, 39.4m railway section
• Service roads: 11m wide; pedestrian walkway 5m wide
• Location: 30m from Power House junction to near IOCL junction
• Implementation: 50:50 work-sharing basis
• Benefits: One lakh people including Nehru Nagar residents

Federation of North Chennai Residential Welfare Association president noted history of accidents at level crossings and welcomed project completion after residents' long campaign.

Perambur, with 2,22,792 voters across 16 Chennai constituencies, includes Kodungaiyur, Vyasarpadi and parts of Perambur. Residents cite Kodungaiyur dump-yard biomining and the upcoming Ganesapuram flyover as progress. Biomining could reclaim 252 acres; another 75 acres could be reclaimed if a proposed waste-to-energy plant, which would burn nearly 2,100 tonnes of waste, is dropped. The Greater Chennai Corporation is building a 678-metre road overbridge near Vyasarpadi Jeeva railway station. Perambur is also due to get an underground station on Chennai Metro Phase II’s Corridor 3. The Ezhil Nagar–Korukkupet rail overbridge has eased congestion; the renovated MKB Nagar terminus has new electric buses, but residents want more services, including to Kilambakkam, south Chennai, Ponneri, Minjur and Thiruverkadu. Some areas have faced sewage contamination of drinking water for about eight years. Residents also seek drainage upgrades, flood mitigation, burial grounds, indoor stadiums, a hospital and skill-training facilities. At least 30,000 voters across several localities need better transport and water. Residents raised concerns about drug activity and TASMAC shops near homes and highways.
