Pallikkara Tourism Upgrade to Begin With ₹1 Crore Works
Indiatimes · · Infrastructure
A ₹1 crore tourism upgrade along the Kadambrayar river in Pallikkara will improve the walkway and bridge and add solar lights and benches.
Key facts
Development work in Pallikkara, beside the Kadambrayar river in Kizhakkambalam, is due to begin in October 2025 after the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) completed tendering and awarded the work. Jai Bharath College of Management and Engineering Technology proposed the development, estimated at ₹1 crore. Plans include raising and beautifying the existing walkway to prevent waterlogging, renovating the bridge across the river, installing solar-powered streetlights and adding benches. DTPC secretary Linto Joseph said a restaurant opened in the area is attracting IT employees in the evenings and that development is expected to draw more visitors. The college also proposed kayaking and other water sports, a children’s play area, an open-air amphitheatre and wellness zones. Boating can begin only after dredging is completed.
Infopark Phase III Delayed by Unclear Land Pooling Rules
Indiatimes · · Industry
Infopark Phase III’s 300-acre land pooling plan is stalled pending amendments, despite strong demand and targets of ₹12,000 crore investment and over 100,000 jobs.
Key facts
Infopark Phase III, planned as a township campus in Kunnathunadu constituency, faces delays because Kerala’s land-pooling rules lack clarity. The government plans to develop 300 acres through pooling; participating owners would receive 60% of their original land back after development, with land value expected to rise three to four times. The government appointed GCDA to pool land in Kizhakkambalam panchayat, where GCDA and Infopark identified private land. Kerala notified land-pooling rules in January, but GCDA says some provisions need amendment and procedures cannot proceed until changes are made. Infopark’s Phase I and II campuses are full, with more than 120 companies awaiting space. The park has 582 companies and over 70,000 employees. The government targets ₹12,000 crore in investment and more than 100,000 IT jobs from Phase III.
