NDA Leaders Seek Inquiry Into Kautilya Nagar Land Allotments

Bihar NDA leaders called for an impartial, time-bound inquiry into alleged rule violations in allotting five Kautilya Nagar plots to Lalu Prasad’s family.

Bihar water resources minister and HAM(S) chief Santosh Kumar Suman and JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar demanded a high-level inquiry into land allotments by the Kautilya Nagar Housing Society in Patna. RJD chief Lalu Prasad and former chief minister Rabri Devi moved to Kautilya Nagar after vacating their 10, Circular Road bungalow on Thursday.

Citing allegations in former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi’s book Lalu Leela, Neeraj alleged rules and Clause 2 of the society’s bylaws were violated in allotting and transferring plots 207, 208, 209, 210 and 211, which were later merged into the family’s bungalow complex. He said plot 208 was allotted to Lalu in 1992 and plot 210, originally reserved for a community hall, was later allotted to Rabri’s brother Anirudh Prasad, also known as Sadhu Yadav.

Suman said the allegations had not received a detailed response and demanded an impartial, time-bound inquiry. RJD spokesperson Ejaz Ahmad dismissed the accusations as “cut-paste politics” and said NDA leaders were suffering from “Lalu phobia.”

Activist Guddu Baba has asked Bihar’s deputy chief minister to investigate the Kautilya Nagar land allotted for Lalu Prasad’s new residence.

Activist Vikas Chandra, known as Guddu Baba, wrote to Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha seeking an investigation into the Kautilya Nagar land where Lalu Prasad’s new residence was built. He alleged the land belonged to Veterinary College and was allotted in violation of rules.

Chandra said a cooperative society was formed in Kautilya Nagar in 1986 and 20 acres were leased to MLAs and MPs to build houses; he alleged the lease conditions were not followed.

Rabri Devi was asked to vacate 10 Circular Road, the family’s main residence since 2006. Last month, she was allotted 39 Harding Road in her capacity as leader of the opposition in the state legislative council.
