MIDC Plans Additional Land Acquisition for Nagpur Industrial Projects

MIDC plans to acquire 5,500 acres in Nagpur district for projects with signed MoUs, as existing industrial areas near capacity prompt expansion elsewhere.

Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) will acquire an additional 5,500 acres in Nagpur district for industrial projects with signed MoUs, CEO Dipendra Singh Kushwah said during a visit to Vidarbha. The headline gives the proposed acquisition as 5,550 acres.
With Hingna and Butibori industrial areas nearly fully occupied, MIDC is focusing on industrial zones at Narkhed, Katol, Saoner and Kuhi. It is also accelerating industrial development in Nagpur, Gadchiroli and Chandrapur.
Confederation of Small Industries Association president Julfesh Shah said the acquisition would be a priority. Additional Butibori is sold out, and JSW and Mahindra & Mahindra are among large companies awaiting land. The Chief Minister’s Office has instructed MIDC to complete the process in six to eight months.
