Anti-encroachment drive clears footpaths near Janjeerwala Square

Indore civic and traffic teams fined vehicle owners and institutions for footpath encroachment between Janjeerwala Square and Industry House Square.

  • A joint team of traffic police, revenue department and Indore Municipal Corporation ran an anti-encroachment drive between Janjeerwala Square and Industry House Square on Tuesday.
  • The action targeted institutions and vehicle owners causing traffic congestion by occupying footpaths and parking illegally.
  • Challans were issued to 5 car owners, and Rs. 3,000 was collected in fines.
  • 8 motorcycles were seized.
  • Addiction Restaurant was fined Rs. 5,000 for encroaching on the footpath.
  • Coral Hospital was fined Rs. 10,000 for footpath encroachment by placing railings on it.
  • Coral Hospital was also found running a canteen in the basement in violation of rules; IMC sealed the canteen.
  • In a separate action from Bengali Square to Bicholi Hapsi Road, about 50 shops that had encroached on footpaths were acted against and their illegal structures removed.
  • Challans totaling Rs. 56,600 were issued there, goods kept on footpaths were seized, an illegally operated commercial basement and two other establishments were sealed, and 15 vehicles were fined with Rs. 7,500 collected.
