The 68-km four-lane National Highway 563 stretch between Hanamkonda and Durshed in Karimnagar Rural mandal was built at a cost of Rs 2,486 crore. Traffic trials began on September 5, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate it virtually in October. The highway is part of a corridor linking Jagtial and Khammam and is expected to reduce the distance between Karimnagar and Warangal by 5 km; locals estimate a 45-minute journey to Warangal.

The Karimnagar–Hanamkonda section has nine major bridges, 23 minor bridges, 25 underpasses and five bypasses. Safety and operations features include solar-powered Pan Tilt Zoom cameras every 2 km, variable message signs, real-time traffic-violation identification, and round-the-clock incident management. Ambulances, cranes, patrol vehicles and a helpline are available every 5 km. The project includes median planting, groundwater recharge pits and a toll plaza at Kothagattu. Locals expect it to benefit agriculture and the granite industry.
