Maharashtra Seeks Raigad Tourism Proposals Under PRASAD Scheme

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar directed officials to immediately submit tourism development proposals for Harihareshwar, Maral, Diveagar and Shrivardhan in Raigad district to the Union government under the Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) scheme. He also called for approvals for tourism master plans to be prepared and implemented on priority.

The proposed ₹22.66 crore project includes development and beautification of the circumambulatory path at Shri Harihareshwar Temple. A Star Gazing Observatory at Maral, described as Raigad’s first advanced astronomical observatory, is proposed at an estimated cost of ₹25.06 crore. It would include transparent guest domes, camping facilities, adventure sports and forest tourism experiences.

Tourism Minister Shambhuraj Desai, Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare, Minister of State Indranil Naik, MP Sunil Tatkare, senior Planning, Finance and PWD officials, and Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation officials attended the review meeting.
