Mekala Krishnaiah, 55, died at his four-acre paddy field in Rukmapur village, Chegunta mandal, after touching live wires while checking a borewell cable. The motor had stopped working amid a power disruption. Farmers said unreliable supply was forcing them to take risks and alleged that round-the-clock supply had ended in most places since the Congress government took office, with frequent interruptions elsewhere. Krishnaiah is survived by his wife, Lakshmi, a son and three daughters. Police registered a case.
