Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) plans to revise the alignment and designs for the 7.5-km Corridor 6 from MGBS to Chandrayangutta, after acquiring some properties previously considered difficult to obtain. HAML has invited sealed quotations for an agency to optimise the alignment and develop lower-cost designs. The earlier design included more than 30 special portal structures where road medians or curves prevented standard pillars; the agency will explore reducing their number and aligning the corridor’s centreline with the road. Designs must avoid placing pillars or other structures near heritage buildings, including Charminar and Salar Jung Museum.

The proposed corridor has six stations: Salar Jung Museum, Charminar, Shalibanda, Aliabad, Falaknuma and Chandrayangutta, averaging about 1.2 km apart. Estimated project cost is ₹2,935 crore; savings will be clear after the new designs are completed. General consultancy tender deadlines for this and four other corridors were extended from September 24 to October 8.

HAML has invited sealed quotations to appoint an agency to optimize the alignment at lower cost. More than 30 portal structures had been proposed between MGBS and Chandrayangutta, including at road-divider sections and bends where pillars could not be placed; these increase project costs. The agency will propose ways to reduce portal structures, align the metro centre line with the road centre line where possible, and avoid construction near historic and sensitive structures. General consultancy tender deadlines for the Old City and four other corridors were extended from the 24th to October 8.

The main Ganesh immersion procession will travel from Balapur through Keshavagiri, Chandrayangutta, Falaknuma, Aliabad, Nagulchinta, Charminar, Madina, Afzalgunj, M.J. Market, Abids, Basheerbagh and Liberty to immersion points on NTR Marg and PVNR Marg. Other processions will join or use designated corridors.

No traffic except vehicles carrying idols will be allowed on the main route from 6 a.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday. Restrictions on NTR Marg, PVNR Marg, Tank Bund and Khairatabad Flyover may continue until Saturday evening. Motorists should use the Inner Ring Road, Masab Tank-Punjagutta-Begumpet-Secunderabad corridor or Outer Ring Road.

Forty-seven lakes and ponds are designated for immersion; 13 parking locations are earmarked for visitors. Heavy commercial vehicles and trailers will be diverted to the Outer Ring Road; lorries and construction vehicles are barred from entering Hyderabad from 6 a.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Saturday. Inter-State and district buses heading to MGBS must use alternative routes until 8 a.m. Saturday; private buses must operate from outside the city and stay off roads until noon. Airport travellers should use PVNR Expressway or Outer Ring Road.

Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd Additional Managing Director B. Ajith Reddy inspected road-widening works on 29 August 2026 along the 7.5-kilometre Old City Metro corridor from Darulshifa to Chandrayangutta. The corridor is described as running from Mahatma Gandhi Bus Stand (MGBS) to Chandrayangutta.

Of 888 affected properties, 833 have been acquired. The remaining 55 include heritage structures and ancient buildings; officials discussed measures to extend the route along them. Reddy directed officials to speed up relocation of power lines, poles and water pipelines and implement the Chief Minister’s directions to expedite the works.

Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited’s proposed Phase II comprises five Phase II-A corridors spanning about 76.4 km and three Phase II-B corridors spanning about 86.1 km. The proposed expansion covers Shamshabad RGIA, Kokapet Neopolis, Chandrayangutta, Patancheru, Hayat Nagar, Bharat Future City, Medchal and Shamirpet.

• Corridor V, Raidurg–Kokapet Neopolis: 11.6 km and eight proposed stations. No Gachibowli Metro station currently operates; Raidurg, at Mindspace on HITEC City Road, serves the wider Gachibowli and HITEC City area.
• Corridor IV, Nagole–Shamshabad RGIA: about 36.8 km, via LB Nagar, Karmanghat, Owaisi Hospital, Chandrayangutta, Mailardevpally and Aramghar.
• The proposed RGIA–Bharat Future City corridor is about 39.6 km.

These corridors remain proposed, not operational. The airport metro has no passenger timetable. Existing Raidurg terminal service lists first trains at 6:00 a.m. and last trains at 11:00 p.m.
