Police launched hunt for Vijay alias Viju Ghodke, a notorious land mafia operating in Beltarodi area. He illegally seized several plots of land worth crores using forged documents and operated with henchmen. Criminal activities include attempted murder and assault, creating fear among locals. In recent case, Prashant Hadke of Swavalambi Nagar alleged Viju and gang forged documents to claim his ancestral 3.44-hectare land. Beltarodi police registered case against Viju, Haridas Gaikwad of Chandramani Nagar, and Ritesh Ghodeswar of New Kailash Nagar. Upon learning of case registration, Viju fled to Pune with second wife. Police raided his Beltarodi house but found him gone. Viju initially ran a gambling club, then expanded into land grabbing, recruiting local criminals from Ajni and Tajabad. He manipulates vulnerable landowners by creating fraudulent documents.
