Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) launched an eviction drive on Friday to clear illegal encroachments along multiple stretches including CDA Sector-1 to Krushak Bazar and Chandi Mandir to Stewart School. More than 70 illegal structures comprising temporary sheds, roadside stalls, and unauthorized extensions were demolished. Around 60 stalls were evicted on the CDA Sector 1–Krushak Bazar stretch. The eviction was carried out with assistance of enforcement squads and police personnel. Structures had encroached on public land and obstructed pedestrian movement and vehicular traffic. CMC enforcement team leader Shramika Bibhutiray stated the drive was part of a broader initiative to reclaim public spaces and improve traffic flow.

More than 10 illegal structures, including temporary sheds and extensions, were demolished by enforcement staff supported by police. Roads cleared included one connecting Sector 7 near Rajkumar Salon to an arterial road, and another connecting Sector 7 to Sector 8 near Adrith Dental hub. Earthmovers were used to dismantle structures while enforcement teams regulated traffic. CMC official stated the eviction was part of an ongoing initiative for planned urban development and public safety, and focused on clearing drains and open spaces blocked by unauthorised constructions that cause waterlogging during monsoon. CMC mayor Subhash Singh said the action would continue in phases in other areas, with objectives to reclaim public land, ensure free movement on roads and footpaths, and address safety risks and civic amenities hampered by encroachments.
