More than 100,000 people employed in Dahej’s industrial zone commute from Bharuch, spending at least two hours on the road daily. Poor road conditions and traffic jams on the Bharuch-Dahej route are disrupting daily life and industrial productivity.

The 48-km stretch is being redeveloped under a ₹800-crore Gujarat State Road Development Corporation project that includes bridges, flyovers and a cement-concrete road. A prolonged rainy season worsened conditions. A GSRDC official said a 12-member team, alongside police, is managing traffic; repairs to damaged sections were due to begin within 15 days after the rain stopped. The official identified merging expressway and local traffic as the main issue. Dahej has several Major Accident Hazard units.
