Kareli bagh is among the oldest locality of Vadodara. The location has the first Arya samaj hostel for girls and boys. It has a very close proximity the famous garden Kamatibaugh. It has the first widow hostel known as Vidwa ashram which was built during early 70's. It is more of a historical place. It is very peaceful place with mainly Hindus living here. There is Ayurvedic hospital which is very old. It still has a house where Bhaghat singh was rescued from Jail and saved from Britishers. It also has the hospital for mental health which is the biggest and oldest in Gujarat.
