Revision in Property Registration Fee

Delhi Approves First Property Registration Fee Hike in 45 Years

After a 45-year hiatus, the Delhi Cabinet approved a proposal on Monday to increase property registration fees, anticipating a significant boost in revenue collection.

The government expects this change to elevate annual revenue from ₹1.5 crore to ₹100 crore. The revised fee structure is designed to modernize the registration process and provide much-needed funds for public services.

Revised Fee Structure:

The following revised fees for property registration will now be applicable within Delhi:

  • Sale, Conveyance, and Gift Deeds: 1% of the stated property value or the circle rate (whichever is higher) up to a maximum fee of ₹50,000. This pertains to immovable properties like houses and land.
  • Undisclosed Property Value: A flat fee of ₹1,000 will apply when the property value is not specified in the registration documents.
  • Lease of Immovable Property: A registration fee of ₹1,000 will be levied for leasing immovable property.
  • Will Registration: Registering a will now carries a fee of ₹500.
  • Miscellaneous Document Registration: A fee of ₹1,000 is applicable per document for miscellaneous registrations not covered by other categories.
  • Copies of Registered Documents: Copies of registered documents will now cost ₹10 per page.
  • Translation Services: A fee of ₹50 will be charged for translation filing services. This revision is intended to streamline the registration process for individuals requiring translated documents.

This move promises to affect all future property registrations in Delhi and signifies a substantial adjustment to real estate regulations within the city.
