Bangalore's All-in-One Property Card Initiative
The Karnataka Government has taken the decision to introduce an all-in-one property card for property owners in Bangalore, potentially launching before Diwali. This initiative, known as the Urban Property Ownership Record (UPOR), aims to consolidate property details and simplify the ownership process.
Streamlining Property Documentation
The UPOR cards will serve as definitive proof of ownership and include comprehensive property information, such as tax payment records. Going forward, property registrations within the city will mandate the presentation of these cards. This measure seeks to curtail fraudulent activities and enhance transparency in real estate transactions.
Project Rollout and Verification Process
The initial phase of the project will encompass six key areas: Malleswaram, Yeshwantpur, Rajajinagar, Jayanagar East, Siddapura, and Yediyur. Over a 90-day period, designated project personnel will conduct on-site property deed verification. The government has initiated the tendering process for surveying and verification across 50 city wards, with bids closing on October 18. Following the selection of appropriate agencies, the survey and verification process will commence. The remaining wards will be included in the second phase of the project, according to an official statement.
Property Owner Participation and Dispute Resolution
Property owners will receive official notices to prepare their documentation for the verification procedure. Upon successful verification, the department will issue the property card. A mechanism for dispute resolution is also in place, allowing owners to file complaints and subsequently receive a revised, final property card. This ensures accuracy and addresses any potential discrepancies in the initial verification process.
