DDA Budget Emphasizes Affordable Housing and Green Spaces
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) recently approved its budget for the fiscal year 2013-14, highlighting a commitment to both affordable housing and the preservation of green areas within the city.

During a meeting held on Tuesday, the Delhi Development Authority officially adopted its budget for the year 2013-14. This budget places a strong emphasis on initiatives related to affordable housing. In addition to its commitment to low-income housing, the budget allocates specific resources for maintaining the city's green spaces.
Focus on Affordable Housing and Infrastructure
This budget seeks to promote low-income housing opportunities. The Authority intends to construct affordable housing units primarily on the outskirts of the city. Furthermore, the newly introduced DDA budget is expected to give impetus to various infrastructure projects throughout Delhi.
According to DDA chairman Tejinder Khanna, the Authority will formulate a detailed project plan before the next meeting. This chart will include timelines and projected dates of completion for each project.
Streamlining Project Monitoring
With the implementation of this chart, the DDA aims to improve its ability to oversee the progress of various projects and address any prospective delays. This initiative will enable the Authority to expedite the advancement of projects that are currently facing delays.
DDA Budget 2013-14 focus on affordable housing sector and infrastructure development.
The DDA anticipates generating approximately Rs. 5876.85 Cr through the sale of its land holdings. Furthermore, an allocation exceeding last year's estimates by over 22% has been earmarked for the development of commercial, institutional, and residential establishments, with the goal of satisfying the growing demand.
Addressing Residential and Commercial Needs
To meet the increasing demands of the population, the Authority intends to expedite residential construction and commercial development in areas such as Alaknanda, Dwarka, Jasola, Kirti Nagar, Paschim Vihar, Rohini, and other localities.
In contrast to the budget estimate of Rs. 2,156.37 Cr for 2012-13, the allocation has been increased to Rs. 2,543.05 Cr for 2013-14, with affordable housing remaining a top priority.
According to the previous fiscal budget, there were plans to build approximately 30,813 homes, consisting of 4,855 EWS (Economically Weaker Section) houses and 24,660 LIG (Low Income Group) houses, in locations such as Rohini, Narela, and Dwarka.
This year, the DDA plans to develop more than 3000 EWS houses in Kalkaji Extension. The Authority intends to complete the development with an estimated expenditure of Rs. 30 Cr.
